brugge

Brugge is a sweet little town of 22,000 people. It's quaint. It's picturesque. It's reasonably priced and it has boatloads of seafood.  boatloads. After we there one night, we had to look at a map to find out where exactly we were (if you remember we didn't do a whole lot of planning prior to our trip, like looking at any maps), it is in fact, very close to the sea.

It has good chocolate, good beer and great Belgian waffles.  Seriously, I'd go back just for the waffles.  We had waffles and beer for lunch one day. (When in Rome...right?) It was bliss.

 Basilica of Holy Blood
We took a carriage ride on our first night.  Our driver was one of the nicest people you could meet. We really enjoyed our 30 min trip.  We were also missing our pup, so we of course soaked up every moment with Cortez.
Cortez (the wonder dog) and Mike - taking a break to feed our horse on our carriage ride through the city.

Cortez is an award winning show dog in his past time...clearly he knows how to pose for the camera.

 Sarah, our trusty steed

best ways to see the city:
take a carriage ride...the drivers (and their sidekick dogs) know so many fun facts.
take a canal ride...you get to see the back of the buildings that you saw on the horse and carriage ride...and a lot of other cool stuff, but I like to state the obvious.
